Your role

Consulting Principal will be a member of energy consulting team at IHS Markit, reporting to the lead of Upstream Oil & Gas Consulting for Europe, CIS and Africa. Principal Consultant will lead delivery of consulting projects by leveraging in-house data and expertise with an aim of developing bespoke actionable insights and solutions for clients along the energy value chain, with primary focus on upstream. The nature of the projects will include supporting clients with navigating the energy transition space, including strategy definition, portfolio optimization, opportunity identification, cost management, performance benchmarking, due diligence and valuation. Clients include various stakeholders along the energy value chain: oil and gas producing companies, regulators, governments, services companies, and financial investors.

Key responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert in one of upstream-related topics - e.g. economic and financial analysis, petroleum engineering, technology, costs.
  • Deliver robust quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of clients' decision-making processes, including A&D, business development and strategy definition
  • Identify data requirements, gather, synthesize and analyze data, build bespoke analytical models
  • Translate analysis into actionable recommendations
  • Leverage IHS Markit databases and liaise with consultants and researchers across the global energy team to generate the required inputs and analysis
  • Perform economic evaluation of assets, portfolios, or investment opportunities
  • Manage execution of consulting projects with moderate complexity ensuring client satisfaction and project profitability
  • Develop high quality insightful presentations for senior audiences to support clients' decision making
  • Support consulting lead with business development


About you

Required skills and qualifications:
  • Essential: 6+ years of energy industry experience acquired in oil and gas operator organizations, financial sector or management consulting
  • Previous consulting experience highly preferred
  • Strong subject matter expertise in one of upstream oil and gas disciplines: subsurface, economics and valuation, costs, technology
  • Proven analytical and numeric skills and computer literacy
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • University degree in a relevant field - e.g. petroleum engineering, economics & finance, business, data sciences.
  • Strong command of English language, knowledge of other languages is desirable
