Activate Learning are now recruiting for a Foundation teacher to join our Lifeskills faculty teaching team at Merrist Wood College.

The post will be predominantly to teach learners on our foundation pathways (from PreEntry - Level 1). Our Lifeskills team works to support learners who face substantial barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning.

This is a fixed term, part time position, starting as soon as possible until July 2022, working 11 hours per week (0.3 FTE) ideally across Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with some flexibility for the right candidate and the possibility for additional hours and to extend. What do you need to be successful in this role?

Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification or experience. Whilst we would prefer applications from qualified teachers who hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, we would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners. Unqualified candidates would start at a lower salary point and this could be discussed at interview, if successfully shortlisted.

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. Along with current Maths and English skills, you will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
