This is a permanent role, Monday-Friday and a hybrid working role. You will be working from home and then also attending your local office when required. Travel to other Drax office locations will also be needed from time to time
About the role
As the Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the IT Architecture in DRAX Power Limited (DPL) and the Drax Group. You'll be driving the adoption of the strategy forward.
If you thrive on strong leadership, you'll be owning and leading the technical delivery of large (up to £5m budget) and/or complex projects either developed internally/externally or using third party procured products.
Using a breadth and depth of both business and technology knowledge to select the most appropriate solution for the organisation in the short and long term. Producing recognised architectural artefacts (solution architecture, high-level design, initial prototyping where required, low level design review and approval) to achieve the best outcome for the organisation.
You'll be participating in the end-to-end process of IT projects from proposition to realisation. This role works with other Architectures and 3rd parties to set an Enterprise vision and maximise benefits to the organisation
Drawing upon your experience, you will be providing technical leadership and support to 60+ IT colleagues and other parts of the Drax Group. You'll be the technical design authority and facilitate and run a Technical Design Forum for the discussion of architecture with both business stakeholders and IT colleagues
About you
Experience and knowledge are key to this role, as well as being an excellent team player and being confident at engaging at all levels. You'll be advising and working alongside Senior Business Managers and third-party stakeholders
You'll have Strong Solution design, problem solving and analytical experience and experience of Architecture Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF). You'll also need good experience of Design Patterns, including Enterprise Design Patterns.
This role will require you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence and the ability to network with, negotiate with, and influence a wide range of people with different backgrounds, responsibilities, and motivations
You'll demonstrate your significant experience of Software Delivery Lifecycle, specifically analysis, architecture and design and the ability to present complex technical solutions to all levels of colleagues both internal and external to IT
