Job purpose:

Assisting blind young lady with mild autism and significant learning difficulties - in taking part in leisure activities and spending quality time with her. She has a very agreeable personality and a true zest for life although it is important to remember she values her personal space and prefers a sensitive, gentle approach.

Bilingual with English and Italian preferable.

Based in Hove.

Job Description

We are looking for a warm, empathetic, relaxed but also responsible and respectful PA who can involve cared person with special needs in activities from walks to attending coffee shops, music therapy sessions and more but also to spend some quality time together indoor on a rainy day. She loves listening to music and films.

She loves being read poetry and short tales to as well.

Another activity is making up songs for fun.

She is fully verbal and enjoys being playful.

To fit these requirements we need someone creative, who can come up with interesting activities, with at least a L2/L3 qualification (or equivalent if from abroad) in a relevant field (Arts&Media, HUMS GCSE/A-level, Music Technology, Health and Social Care, Psychology etc) who has experience working with young people with special needs.

You will be working mainly at the employer's address, in the living room (which is rather spacious) when indoor and will have to be respectful of other spaces without interfering with other people living in the house.


A limited amount of personal care is required as well. Some housekeeping (meal preparation, helping her tidy up her room, putting clothes in washing machine/dryer) only required on an emergency basis and you will be asked clearly and directly when to do so.


Your focus should be on the service user and providing her with meaningful and fun activities to engage with, this is a person centred job.

Location

Within employer's home at Hove and in surrounding area. Beautiful seaside landscape an included bonus!

Hours and rate of pay


Rate per hour £10.15

12 hours per week with some degree of flexibility.

Experience and Skills

• Experience with people who have special needs.

• Experience working with or training in Visual impairment, ASD and learning difficulties preferable.

• Ability to speak some Italian preferable.

• L2/L3 qualification (or equivalent if from abroad) in a relevant field (Arts&Media, HUMS GCSE/A-level, Music Technology, Health and Social Care, Psychology etc.

• Experience (or willingness) in delivering some personal care occasionally.
