Trainee Carbon Data and Compliance Analyst

Trainee Carbon Data and Compliance Analyst required by leading Fortune 500 brand and globally recognized energy and sustainability services supplier!

The Trainee Carbon Data and Compliance Analyst will be responsible for gathering energy consumption data and calculating carbon emissions, analysing Client performance against formal targets and carrying out external reporting.

The main tasks will involve collection of relevant energy data from a range of sources including energy suppliers, clients, third parties and internal systems, as inputs for generation of various legislative compliance and monitoring reports. The goal is to assist clients in adhering to voluntary and mandatory carbon legislation, by undertaking all the administrative requirements on behalf of the client and submitting required documentation to the relevant bodies to demonstrate compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working closely with the UK Carbon Compliance team and Data Management team, the role holder will be responsible for:
  • Providing clients with assistance to comply with a wide range of energy and carbon legislative and reporting requirements, including Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reduction (SECR) framework, Climate Change Agreements (CCA), UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS), Energy and Savings Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) and CHP Quality Assurance Scheme. (CHPQA)
  • Gathering and validating energy data for legislative reporting
  • Where necessary, conversion of energy data to equivalent carbon emissions data using geographically-appropriate, prevailing conversion factors for Scopes 1, 2 and 3
  • Liaising with energy suppliers, clients and other third parties to request energy consumption and other required data.
  • Communication with administering authorities
  • Preparation and provision of energy and carbon data for generation of formal reporting
  • Preparation of client performance reports and presentation to clients.
  • Carrying out internal auditing of data and compliance.
  • Organization of documentation and construction of audit trails.

PERSON SPECIFICATION (BACKGROUND AND SKILLS):

  • Knowledge and experience in UK carbon footprint reporting and analysis is desirable
  • Data analysis experience is essential, gained through work or academic experience.
  • Analytical skills and numerate ability is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately is essential.
  • Strong teamwork skills are essential but also the ability to work independently on projects.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines is essential.
  • Analytical Bachelor's Degree is desirable, preferably in the environmental field or other related fields.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of the MS Office suite is essential.
  • Extensive experience of utilizing Excel analysis functionality for reporting purposes is essential.
