National Numeracy is looking to appoint two new trustees to join its charity Board to replace retiring trustees who have reached their maximum term limit. These are key appointments to help steer the charity through its next phase of development. The new trustees will be inspiring, dynamic and ambitious individuals who are committed to making a significant and lasting improvement to numeracy levels across the UK. While we welcome applications from candidates with a range of backgrounds and experience, for these appointments we are particularly interested in people who can bring expertise, perspective and networks that will help National Numeracy deepen its impact and extend its influence. We are especially keen to hear from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: Maths, numeracy and educatio n - Knowledge and experience of maths, numeracy and/or the education and skills landscape, with the insight and connections to help strengthen National Numeracy's credibility, influence and reach. External influence and strategic partnerships - Experience in one or more of campaigning and communications, policy and government engagement, fundraising, or strategic partnerships, with the ability to build relationships, open doors and help extend National Numeracy's profile and influence. We do not expect candidates to bring experience across all of these areas; we are seeking complementary strengths across the appointments. Trustees are encouraged to get to know National Numeracy well and to respond to opportunities to involve themselves in National Numeracy activities. Beyond board meetings this might include supporting key initiatives, such as National Numeracy Day, meeting with prospective strategic funders, or providing guidance on major projects to the Executive team as appropriate. Whilst the charity is based in the South East of England, we are looking for the right candidates from across the UK and are willing to pay travel expenses for meeting attendance if required. We are also committed to broadening the diversity of the board and would like to hear from applicants who can contribute greater diversity of representation, experience and thinking, including Black, Asian and minority ethnic people, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities.

Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
Wigston, Leicestershire
Trustees Voluntary with reasonable expenses Hybrid board meetings, 2 meetings at IOSH HQ in Leicestershire The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the voice of the occupational health and safety profession. They are a global organisation supporting around 50,000 members in 130 countries to make the world of work safer and healthier. They lead and influence debate on wellbeing, health and safety at work across all sectors, advocate for change and engage with government and policy. Health and safety at work is a fundamental principle and right, and they take a human-rights-based approach to occupational health and safety. IOSH is approaching its next strategy cycle and has strong ambitions to springboard off the success of its current Activate 2028 strategy, enhancing its business and operating models for the next decade. For a prospective trustee, this makes it a particularly influential moment to join: the governance decisions taken now around new business lines, partnership/takeover strategy, and the balance between commercial income and charitable mission will shape the organisation's trajectory for the next decade. A trustee coming in at this stage has the opportunity to help set the guardrails for ambitious, higher-risk growth (new markets, M&A-style partnerships, new revenue models) while ensuring it stays anchored to IOSH's charitable purpose of growing OSH capacity - making this a rare chance to have strong influence on the shape of a Royal Charter body as it reinvents its growth model. We are seeking two additional Trustees to join the Board later this year: an Independent Trustee and a Corporate (Chartered) Member Trustee and who will join or chair Board sub committees, depending on experience. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate strategic vision, highly effective interpersonal skills, self-awareness, sound commercial acumen and a collaborative approach to building relationships with key stakeholders. The Board is looking to strengthen its capabilities and would welcome applicants for these roles who bring significant experience and credibility in their fields, particularly in the following areas: a qualified finance leader with charity accounting experience; Digital, AI, cyber-security or data governance experience or working in a technology leadership capacity; equity, diversity and inclusion; international business development and risk management; experience of working within a charity or other regulated environment; experience of policy development and strategic planning; strategic as well as technical health and safety experience.
