Job Description

A well-established law firm in Portsmouth is looking to appoint a Head of Private Client to lead and further develop its existing department.

This is a senior appointment with real scope to shape the direction of the team. The firm already has a solid Private Client offering in place, and is now looking for an experienced lawyer who can drive the department forward while maintaining a high standard of client service.

You'll take on a mix of leadership and fee-earning responsibilities, supported by an established team and administrative staff.

The role will involve:

  • Leading and developing the Private Client department
  • Managing a varied caseload including Wills, Probate, Trusts and LPAs
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and support staff
  • Contributing to the strategic growth of the department
  • Maintaining and developing client relationships and referrer networks

What they're looking for:

  • An experienced Private Client Solicitor (typically 8+ PQE, flexible)
  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of Private Client matters
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • A commercial and proactive approach to team and client development

This is a genuine opportunity to step into a leadership role with influence. The firm offers a supportive and collaborative environment, where senior lawyers are given autonomy and input into decision-making.

There is clear potential to shape the team, contribute to long-term growth, and progress further within the firm's leadership structure.

If you're considering a move into a Head of Department role, or already operating at that level and open to a new environment, this is well worth exploring.

Apply now for a confidential discussion - we'll talk through the opportunity in detail before your CV is shared with the firm.

We're also working on a range of senior Private Client roles across the South Coast and wider South East, so feel free to get in touch to discuss the market more broadly.
