Operational Excellence & Process Technology Lead Location: Telford Working pattern: Monday to Friday About the role We're recruiting an Operational Excellence & Process Technology Lead to support our manufacturing operation in Telford. This is a key site-based role focused on operational excellence, process reliability and technical capability development. You will act as the subject matter expert for the M ller Production System (MPS) within the unit, coaching teams at all levels and driving sustainable improvements in efficiency, quality, cost and performance. This is not a people-management role, instead, you'll influence, coach and develop capability across the unit. What you'll be responsible for Acting as the MPS and Operational Excellence expert within the unit Coaching unit managers, team leaders and operators in effective use of MPS and OpEx tools Driving the implementation of the M ller Production System at unit level Developing and maintaining an OpEx improvement roadmap Supporting the unit through OpEx maturity assessments Improving performance against OEE, waste, material losses and productivity Ensuring effective performance data and reporting systems are in place Supporting and tracking VPO and cost-saving initiatives Solving chronic process and reliability issues Defining and maintaining critical process parameters and centrelines Working closely with Quality to improve process capability and technical competence Building technical capability through training and coaching of operators and technicians Supporting new product introductions (NPD) as the unit's technology expert What we're looking for Degree-qualified (Engineering or similar) or equivalent experience Strong background in manufacturing, process technology or operational excellence Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement / MPS / OpEx frameworks Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent (desirable) Strong understanding of OEE, TPM, waste reduction and process reliability Confident coach with the ability to influence without authority Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Quality and Engineering Why join us? Salary - 39,500 plus Veolia benefits listed below Location: Dumfries Hours - Days, 40 hours a week, on a 3 week rotation. 5 days on, 2 days off, 5 days on, 2 days off, 10 days on, 4 days off, On-call element on third week. What you'll do: This position of Operator Technician (Industrial Steam Boilers) is located on a Client site in Dumfries. Working as part of a small team providing 24/7 operations, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the boiler facility. The Operator Technician (Industrial Steam Boilers) will be involved in working with, and assisting in improving, the site systems and will have responsibility for areas of site maintenance as directed. You will be required to: Operate the steam generating plant (and associated equipment), steam distribution and pressure control systems, fuel supply systems, hard, soft and treated water distribution systems. Assist in the operational control of the plant, correct and report any abnormalities, record plant performance and carry out routine operational duties. Complete reports, logs, data collection and handovers accurately and to the required schedule. Carry out daily routine Steam Boiler operational tasks that will comply with legislation and company policies, ensuring plant performance, availability and reliability is maintained to a high level. Carry out analysis each shift of boiler feed water, treated water and boiler blow down to maintain water quality within set limits. Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly rectified to maintain the plants in serviceable order at all times (24/7). Carry out routine and statutory planned preventative maintenance (PPM) , reactive and breakdown works to all mechanical and electrical systems across all the sites. Partake in boiler annual shutdown activities, preparing the boilers for their annual insurance inspection, rebuilding and putting back to an operational state. Ensure that the steam boilers are maintained as per OEM specifications. Monitor and control safe working (including PTW) within the designated area. Compliance with Company's Health and Safety, quality and environmental policies. Ensure day to day compliance with all aspects of the Environmental Permit, reporting any non-compliance or incident to the Team Leader. Assist other Company staff and contractors as required. Undertake continuing personal development to enhance knowledge & skills relevant to the role. Participate in an on-call rota, providing out of hours cover, along with weekend working, currently 1 weekend in 3. Occasionally travel to other sites within the area - vehicle will be supplied for these occurrences. Ideally, we are looking for someone with industrial boiler experience, however, if you have a solid electromechanical engineering background with a good understanding of pressure systems or commercial MTHW, with Gas Safe, then please get in touch. Experience you will need, Essential: Strong Electromechanical experience with either a Mechanical or Electrical bias and a formally recognised Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification. IT literate demonstrating good numeracy and literacy skills. Strong organisational skills with an ability to balance a varied workload and re-prioritise in response to changing business needs and unexpected problems. An in depth knowledge of Health & Safety practices. Excellent communication skills and team mentality. Excellent interpersonal skills. The willingness to undertake training to better understand the plant, processes and procedures involved in operating a boiler house. Full UK driving Licence. Desirable: Be able to demonstrate skills working on steam boilers and associated equipment. Boiler Operations Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) Qualification. Industrial Gas Qualified, I-Gas Level 1 or 3. Gas Safe - Commercial MTHW boilers. Medium Risk Confined Space. PASMA. Health and Safety qualifications and awareness, risk assessment, method statement training, competence in issuing and use of all company Permit to Work systems would be preferential, however, training will be provided where appropriate.
