Job Description

Service Coordinator - Derby Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation

Community, Family and Children Services Social/Welfare

When you join MercyCare, you become part of something bigger than a job. You join a community of people who show up for Western Australians at the moments that matter most - from early learning and disability support, to family, community and aged care services. We live by our values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice, excellence and courage, and we are committed to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable people in our community.

About the role

This role oversees the day-to-day and after-hours operations of a 24/7 short stay accommodation service, ensuring guests feel safe, supported and respected throughout their stay. You'll lead a small, dedicated team while coordinating service delivery, managing rostering, and maintaining high standards across facilities, safety and guest experience. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll ensure the service runs smoothly, meets contractual requirements, and responds effectively to operational challenges in a remote setting. This is a full time role based in Derby with an annual salary of $101,072.40.

This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same, combining people leadership, problem-solving, and operational oversight to deliver meaningful outcomes for the community.

About you

You'll be a confident and adaptable leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys balancing people leadership with operational responsibility. You value cultural respect, build strong relationships, and remain calm under pressure.

You'll have a genuine commitment to working with Aboriginal communities and creating culturally safe, welcoming environments.

In addition, you will also possess:

  • Relevant experience in community services, accommodation coordination or similar environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and support diverse teams
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including reporting and financial processes
  • Experience working in a culturally safe manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last six months)
About the benefits

You'll become part of an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming Western Australian organisation passionately committed to making a meaningful impact in the local community. Our MercyCare Promise is focused on ensuring our people are connected and empowered to make a positive difference in the heart of our communities.

As a valued team member, you'll also enjoy access to:

  • Access to a fleet vehicle
