Shift Engineer

Salary: Up to 44,000
Location: Suffolk
Shift Pattern: Rotating days and nights (season-dependent)

Our client is looking for a capable and proactive Shift Engineer to support the smooth operation of a high-performing production facility. This role offers the chance to play a key part in driving continuous improvement while helping to establish a strong preventative maintenance culture.

Responsibilities:

• Perform reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance across the site
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and implement effective solutions
• Reduce engineering downtime to ensure production targets are consistently met
• Carry out all maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
• Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to optimise plant performance
• Follow and contribute to health, safety, environmental, and food safety standards
• Undertake fabrication work, including building, repairing, and installing machinery components
• Operate tractors and trailers for waste movement when required

Requirements:

• At least 2 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within FMCG or a heavy industrial environment
• Practical experience is valued over formal qualifications
• Hands-on experience with heavy plant equipment, such as conveyors
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset
• Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices in an industrial setting
