Operations Manager

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and commercially astute Operations Manager to join our busy cold store operation during a period of growth. This role involves working 40 hours a week, predominantly Monday to Friday but our operation is 24/7 and there will be an expectation to take urgent calls outside of your working day and respond to emergencies at site, to ensure the site remains operational.

Reporting to the Regional General Manager, this role would suit a confident warehouse and people manager as this role will be vital within the operation to manage the whole process, to ensure that we can keep food supply chain flowing. The role involves actively ensuring that our site is functional and compliant, and you will be expected to challenge and drive productivity to maximise profit. The role is truly collaborative and you, therefore, must be able to effectively communicate with managers at board level, customers, and employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Sole responsibility and ownership of running a site, managing people, equipment, space and buildings.
• Profitability and cost management
• P&L ownership experience
• Experience of managing performance measurements- KPI s and SLA s
• Ensure that staff are trained and competent by arranging training where needed.
• Work closely with customers to ensure a collaborative relationship and be comfortable and knowledgeable enough to manage expectations where needed.
• Always ensure a safe and compliant site.
• Work as a team to ensure an efficient cold chain service, minimising delays
• Drive continuous improvement

About You

• Previous experience of managing a cold store operation would be advantageous
• Excellent people management and leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A good working knowledge of using a Warehouse Management system
• Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and reliability.
• Previous experience of conducting audits.
• Have a good understanding of the warehouse operation.
