Job Description:

As a Senior Structural Engineer within the Production Engineering Department, you will collaborate with a dual-function team comprising of both designers and engineers. By joining a rapidly growing team on a new programme, you will be responsible for conducting engineering assessments to support the build process. Whilst working closely with the design team, you will contribute to the development of equipment and provide operational and production support for the delivery of safety-critical systems.

Core duties:

  • You will be conducting complex structural analysis and designs in accordance with Eurocodes and standards
  • You will be applying your expertise in wider regulations including LOLER, compliance codes, weld specs and tolerances
  • You will be applying analytical methods such as FEA, CAD modelling and schematic interpretation
  • You will be responsible for supporting with the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling and installation of submarine structures and components
  • You will be contributing by applying knowledge of facility constraints for shipping, alignment and installation activities
  • You will be assisting with the development of concept drawings, layouts and technical deliverables aligned with project requirements

Essential Skills:

  • You will need to have gained an Engineering Degree BEng/MEng or equivalent/OR HND with extensive experience gained within Civil/Mechanical/Structural aspects
  • You will be required to hold experience in undertaking hand analysis and design techniques including report writing
  • You will need to have a good understanding of the use of Eurocodes and British Standards
  • You will be required to have an understanding of mechanical engineering and structural steelwork, alongside knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER

The Specialist Structures Department team:

By joining us in the team, you will have the fantastic opportunity to work closely with a wide range of our key internal teams and external stakeholders, whilst delivering assessments that support the overall Submarine build process. As a team, we are responsible for helping to deliver and develop required equipment and provide operational support for safety critical systems. Relocation support packages are available for all roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
