Trainee Fabricator - Halstead, Essex - Day Shift - Full Time - 12.21 - 14.00 p/h

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Fabrication Technician / Trainee Fabricator to join a well-established manufacturing company on a full time, temporary - permanent basis. This is a hands-on role offering long-term stability, the opportunity to learn from experienced fabricators, and clear progression into a senior fabrication position within 12-18 months. This role would suit someone with some workshop experience, eager to learn, enjoys practical work, and wants to build a long-term career in fabrication.

About the role:

As a Trainee Fabricator Working alongside the Lead Body Fabricator, your primary responsibility will be to support the fabrication process and ensure the lead fabricator can work efficiently and productively. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you will assist with material preparation, basic fabrication tasks, and general workshop support. You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills across multiple stages of fabrication, with the goal of progressing into a fully skilled fabricator role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cutting, deburring and preparing materials ready for fabrication
  • Holding, tacking and measuring components during fabrication
  • Assisting with basic welding and grinding tasks
  • Organising tools, materials and components within the workshop
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
  • Supporting the Lead Fabricator to maximise productivity
  • Following instructions and learning fabrication processes

The Ideal Candidate

  • Some previous workshop or manufacturing experience
  • Willingness to learn and develop fabrication skills
  • Physically capable of manual work
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
  • Reliable and punctual

Desirable (for top salary bracket):

  • Basic welding or fabrication experience
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Previous experience in a fabrication or engineering environment
