We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced RICS Chartered Building Surveyor with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience to join our property group in a varied, largely autonomous role.
This position would particularly suit an experienced surveyor looking for a balanced month, and a role focused on practical building management rather than fee-driven consultancy work.
The Role
The role is largely home-based, with regular site inspections and minimal office attendance.
Typical monthly structure:
- Approximately 2 weeks per month undertaking site inspections
- Approximately 2 weeks per month working from home, preparing reports, correspondence and arranging works
- Attendance at our Belgravia office as required (typically 2-3 days per month)
Responsibilities
- Carrying out monthly inspections of our industrial estates located across:
- Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Andover, Gloucester, Birmingham, Somerset and Cornwall
- Monitoring and reporting on tenant compliance with lease covenants, including:
- Unauthorised underletting
- Unapproved uses or trades
- Prohibited activities (e.g. hot works, spray painting)
- Arranging and overseeing landlord repairs, including:
- Roofs
- Gutters
- Drainage
- General fabric issues
- Preparing written follow-up correspondence to tenants
- Producing inspection reports and schedules of works where required
- Undertaking occasional inspections and reports on residential rental properties in London, typically relating to:
- Damp and condensation complaints
- Producing professional RICS reports to clearly evidence causation
Candidate Requirements
- RICS Chartered Building Surveyor
- At least 10 years' post-qualification experience
- Strong practical knowledge of building pathology
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence (significant driving is required)
- Ideally based in the Thames Valley, Buckinghamshire or Hampshire, given the geographic spread of the estates
