Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced RICS Chartered Building Surveyor with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience to join our property group in a varied, largely autonomous role.

This position would particularly suit an experienced surveyor looking for a balanced month, and a role focused on practical building management rather than fee-driven consultancy work.

The Role

The role is largely home-based, with regular site inspections and minimal office attendance.

Typical monthly structure:

  • Approximately 2 weeks per month undertaking site inspections
  • Approximately 2 weeks per month working from home, preparing reports, correspondence and arranging works
  • Attendance at our Belgravia office as required (typically 2-3 days per month)

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out monthly inspections of our industrial estates located across:
  • Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Andover, Gloucester, Birmingham, Somerset and Cornwall
  • Monitoring and reporting on tenant compliance with lease covenants, including:
  • Unauthorised underletting
  • Unapproved uses or trades
  • Prohibited activities (e.g. hot works, spray painting)
  • Arranging and overseeing landlord repairs, including:
  • Roofs
  • Gutters
  • Drainage
  • General fabric issues
  • Preparing written follow-up correspondence to tenants
  • Producing inspection reports and schedules of works where required
  • Undertaking occasional inspections and reports on residential rental properties in London, typically relating to:
  • Damp and condensation complaints
  • Producing professional RICS reports to clearly evidence causation

Candidate Requirements

  • RICS Chartered Building Surveyor
  • At least 10 years' post-qualification experience
  • Strong practical knowledge of building pathology
  • Comfortable operating independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence (significant driving is required)
  • Ideally based in the Thames Valley, Buckinghamshire or Hampshire, given the geographic spread of the estates

What We Offer

  • Salary in the range of £60,000 +
  • Largely home-based working
  • Minimal office attendance
  • A varied and interesting portfolio
  • A role suited to an experienced surveyor looking to step away from high-pressure consultancy environments
  • Long-term stability and autonomy
