Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Primary School in Portsmouth

Location: Portsmouth
Hours: 8:30am 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: FULL TIME

Are you passionate about supporting young people and making a real difference in education? GSL Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth to recruit a dedicated full-time Learning Support Assistant for a Year 2 class. This role is to start on 13th April on a full time basis until 22nd July 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build meaningful experience in a primary school setting, particularly those considering a future in teaching or teacher training.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you ll play a vital part in helping students succeed both academically and personally. This is a varied, rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You will be:

• Supporting students with additional needs, including those with EHCPs
• Providing in-class support across a range of subjects
• Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions
• Encouraging confidence, engagement and positive behaviour for learning
• Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to support progress

This position offers hands-on classroom experience and is ideal for aspiring teachers looking to gain invaluable school-based experience before starting teacher training.

• Candidates with transferable skills (youth work, coaching, care, mentoring, support work etc.) will also be considered
