A Primary School in Preston is seeking a Welfare Assistant for immediate start. This school aims to provide all their children, regardless of needs, with the skills, knowledge, resilience, enthusiasm and life skills which will equip them to lead a successful and happy life.
We are seeking a reliable and caring Welfare Assistant to support pupils during lunchtime and break periods. The successful candidate will help ensure a safe, positive, and well-supervised environment where pupils can eat, socialise and play appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise pupils in the dining hall, playground, and school premises during lunch and break times
Support pupils while they are eating meals and encourage good table manners
Promote positive behaviour and inclusion among pupils
Help organise and supervise safe play activities in the playground
Deal with minor disputes or incidents calmly and appropriately
Ensure pupils follow school rules and health & safety procedures
Report any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns to appropriate staff
Assist pupils who may need additional help during lunchtime
Ensure the playground and dining areas remain safe and tidy
Essential
Ability to work well with children
Calm, patient and approachable manner
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow safeguarding procedures
Reliable and punctual
Desirable
Previous experience working with children or in a school setting
First aid training
Knowledge of behaviour management techniques
Enhanced DBS on the update service
