An established UK infrastructure services provider is seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead the end-to-end operational delivery of its gas, water and power projects across the UK.

The postholder will provide clear ownership across mobilisation, execution and close-out of day services, projects, frameworks and specialist works, ensuring consistent standards, strong cost control and predictable performance across regions.

Key responsibilities include:-

  • Act as the senior operational escalation point for delivery and customer issues.
  • Lead short, medium and long-term operational planning.
  • Oversee effective deployment of technicians, supervisors, plant and specialist equipment.
  • Reduce reactive delivery through structured scheduling and coordination.
  • Maintain consistent delivery standards across regions and work types.
  • Provide governance oversight across frameworks, programmes and major projects.
  • Ensure effective handover from bid/commercial award into delivery.
  • Chair programme and delivery review meetings, monitoring risks, variations and recovery actions.
  • Ensure operational teams understand contractual scope and commercial boundaries.
  • Maintain compliance with gas and water industry standards, client procedures, framework requirements and internal governance processes.
  • Foster effective working relationships with key customers and framework partners.
  • Drive collaboration across operations, programme, customer support, commercial and group functions.
  • Identify inefficiencies and standardise processes to reduce reliance on individuals.
  • Improve reporting, documentation and communication consistency.
  • Support operational readiness for growth within AMP and RIIO regulatory environments.

Our client is looking for someone who has the following experience:-

  • Senior operational leadership experience within utilities, infrastructure or civils.
  • Experience managing field-based, multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
  • Proven commercial awareness with responsibility for operational cost control and margin performance.
  • Experience planning, governing and delivering work within regulated environments.
  • Confident communicator able to operate effectively at site, customer and senior management level.
  • Knowledge of AMP and RIIO regulatory frameworks (desirable)
  • Understanding of NEC3 / NEC4 contract environments (desirable)

This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead a nationally delivered operational function, driving performance, safety and commercial excellence across a growing and technically specialist infrastructure business.
