About the Role
We are seeking experienced Gates & Barriers Engineers to join our growing team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of a wide range of automated gates, barriers, and access control systems across commercial and industrial sites.
We are particularly interested in candidates with hydraulic or electro-mechanical engineering backgrounds, including those who have worked with compactors, balers, agricultural machinery, plant equipment, or fairground rides, as these skills are highly transferable.
Positions are available across Sheffield, Derbyshire, Watford, and Essex, supporting regional service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, servicing, and repair of automatic gates, barriers, and access control systems
Fault finding on electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components
Preventative maintenance on customer sites
Diagnosing and resolving breakdowns efficiently
Ensuring work complies with safety standards and regulations
Completing service reports and documentation
Occasional travel to support international projects
Requirements
Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, or electro-mechanical engineering
Backgrounds considered include:
Compactors and balers
Agricultural machinery
Plant or heavy equipment
Fairground ride maintenance
Automatic gates or barrier systems (desirable but not essential)
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Basic electrical knowledge
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently in a field-based role
Desirable Skills
Experience with access control systems
Welding or fabrication experience
Previous experience with automatic gates and barriers
PLC or control system knowledge
