Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Principal/Associate Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join a well-established multidisciplinary water team delivering infrastructure and environmental solutions across the UK and internationally.

The team works on a broad portfolio of projects including wastewater networks, drainage design, SuDS, and surface water management for water utilities, local authorities, transport authorities, and private developers.

Responsibilities of Principal Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller:

  • Lead hydraulic modelling studies including model build, maintenance, calibration, and verification.

  • Support the delivery of storm overflow reduction, flood alleviation, and environmental improvement schemes.

  • Develop wastewater catchment strategies and associated infrastructure solutions.

  • Ensure technical quality, compliance with relevant standards, and high-quality project outputs.

  • Work closely with project managers to deliver programmes of work effectively.

  • Contribute to bid preparation, including technical inputs and cost estimates.

  • Mentor and support junior staff while encouraging professional development.

  • Participate in technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements for Principal Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller:

  • Understanding of UK Water Industry and regulatory issues.

  • Proven track record in coordinating and delivering technically excellent projects.

  • Expertise using InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange.

  • Expertise in hydraulic modelling, catchment planning and solution development.

  • Ability to review work of others to provide quality assurance and drive continuous improvement in work delivered to the client.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

  • Expertise in MS 365 applications, and knowledge in areas such as PowerBI and SharePoint.

  • Experience working with software such as FME, Optimatics, Ruby (or similar) would be advantageous.

  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification.

  • Chartered with a relevant professional institution (i.e. ICE or CIWEM) would be advantageous.
