Job Title: NG Authorised Wireman / Electrician Location: Cowley Substation, Cowley, Oxford Start Date: 24th March 2026 End Date: 26th October2026 Hours: 07:30 - 17:30 (45 hours per week) Rate: 320 - 350 per day (depending on experience) Type: Temporary / Contract Overview: We are seeking an experienced NG Authorised Wireman / Electrician to support delivery works on a live transmission substation project at Cowley Substation, Oxford, for a major UK infrastructure contractor. This role is suited to candidates with a strong background in National Grid environments and proven experience working on high-voltage substation installations within a live transmission setting. Key Responsibilities: Electrical fitting activities on high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment Installation of control and protection systems Installation of earthing systems Installation of outdoor plant including busbars, disconnectors, and switchgear Maintenance of high-voltage equipment Fault finding on both LV and HV systems Receiving, interpreting, and working to HV documentation and permits Working safely within a live transmission environment in line with site procedures Essential Requirements: Current National Grid Persons authorisation (mandatory) Demonstrable experience on HV substation projects (400kV preferred) Strong understanding of installation and maintenance within transmission environments Ability to read and work from technical drawings and HV documentation Full PPE required prior to site attendance Additional Information: This position has been created due to increased project demand and offers the opportunity to contribute to a critical UK transmission upgrade with a well-established delivery team.
