Job Description

CNC Turner CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire

Salary: £37,000 £41,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 39 hours per week + overtime (1.5x)

Hours of Work:

  • 39-hour working week
  • Monday Thursday: 7:45am 4:15pm
  • Friday: 7:45am 3:15pm
  • Overtime available throughout the year and paid at 1.5x hourly rate.

A well-established precision engineering company with over 50 years of manufacturing experience, producing high-precision machined components for sectors including aerospace, motorsport and medical.

The company operates a modern CNC machining facility and continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technology. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner / CNC Programmer to join their skilled machining team.

The Role CNC Turning

This role will involve programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines to produce high precision machined components to tight tolerances.

You will be responsible for ensuring consistent product quality while working to engineering drawings and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming CNC turning machines (offline CAD/CAM programming)
  • Setting and operating CNC lathes
  • Editing CNC programs where required
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Producing precision machined components to tight tolerances
  • Maintaining quality standards and inspection requirements
  • Ensuring production targets and delivery schedules are met
  • Working closely with colleagues within the machining team

CNC Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in CNC Turning
  • Experience as a CNC Turner / CNC Programmer / CNC Setter Operator
  • Ability to program, set and operate CNC lathes
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills
  • Team player with a proactive attitude

Desirable:

  • Experience using CMM inspection equipment
