Support Worker

Location: Padiham, Burnley BB12

£28,282 to £29,047 dep on Lvl 3 qual in Childrens Residential PLUS up to £7516 extra per annum based on 8 sleep-ins a month

What You'll Do

As a Children's Residential Support Worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.

  • Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
  • Support senior staff with timely updates
  • 8 sleep-ins per month
  • Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach
  • Complete and update care plans regularly, updating with any additional requirements
  • Be part of a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support
  • Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people's records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.

A Little About This Home

Kirkwood is a two bedroomed dormer bungalow. Our house reflects that of a family 'home from home' environment, where the young people feel safe, relaxed and well cared for in a non-institutionalised setting. Kirkwood is a spacious home with good resources for young people and the garden area has been equipped with garden games and a trampoline for fun in the sun and rain.

Kirkwood is geared up to care for 2 young people between the ages of 8 to 18, of either gender who require short, medium or long term care. The registered manager and the staff team all have exceptional skills and abilities to help support each young person placed at Kirkwood with their individual needs catered for.

Kirkwood also have had good results in supporting children and young people for their potential return to home or move to long term foster placements. Currently rated as Outstanding.

Who Are You

  • Previous experience is preferred or maybe you have cared for a friend or family member
  • Ability to work towards a Level 3 qualification in Children's Residential
  • Manual UK driving licence is essential
  • Open to ongoing development and learning with help from your friendly team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to cover day shifts with overnight sleep-ins at the service
