What you will do

• Prepare staining and cover-slipping machines daily, managing solvents and stains in line with the SOP
• Maintain and troubleshoot minor faults in staining and cover-slipping machines
• Assess the quality of staining and cover-slipping through observation
• Clean slides before digitalisation and maintain interaction with digital scanners, including basic cleaning and maintenance
• Produce slide labels and update them via computer as needed
• Organise slides by urgency, checking slide numbers and sorting them accordingly
• File blocks numerically and verify names on cassettes
• Collect blocks from embedding centres and cross-check them against forms
• Remove excess wax from cassettes for seamless microtome cassette holder fitting
