Calibre Search Woolston, Warrington
Civil Engineer Warrington Are you passionate about using Civil Engineering to deliver positive environmental change and help communities become more resilient to climate risks? This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that restore river environments, strengthen flood defences, support sustainable infrastructure and enhance natural systems across the UK. An opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer to join a growing environmental and engineering Consultancy delivering projects that create lasting benefits for communities and the environment. The business works on long-term frameworks with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales locally, alongside larger national programmes across the UK. With an increasing pipeline of secured work and a strong focus on delivering through local teams, the Warrington office is looking to build its in-house design capability to support senior engineers as new schemes move from appraisal into detailed design. As projects continue to come through, there is a clear push to strengthen the team and increase capacity to meet demand. Based in Warrington, you will work within an established engineering team alongside specialists including coastal modellers, reservoir engineers, geotechnical engineers, ecologists and geomorphologists. The role will involve supporting the appraisal, design and delivery of projects from initial concept through to construction, contributing practical, sustainable engineering solutions that respond to client needs and environmental challenges. You will assist with technical design activities including earthworks, drainage strategies, retaining structures and headwalls, and will support the preparation of design calculations, drawings and technical reports. Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure that designs are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with relevant standards, environmental legislation and CDM requirements. The position will also involve site visits across the UK, including occasional overnight stays, to support project delivery and construction-stage activities. As a Civil Engineer within a fast-paced Consultancy environment, you will contribute to projects for a diverse portfolio of public, private and third-sector clients, including local authorities. An understanding of public-sector delivery processes, governance structures and funding mechanisms would be beneficial, particularly when supporting projects through design development and implementation. Experience of projects delivered under the NEC4 suite of contracts would be advantageous, with opportunities to further develop commercial and contractual awareness as your experience progresses. An interest or experience in natural flood management, sustainable urban drainage systems, hydraulic modelling and Flood Risk Assessment would be welcomed. Familiarity with digital design tools, along with an enthusiasm for developing skills in areas such as coding or parametric modelling, would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is required. Candidates will hold a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and will typically be working toward professional qualification, or preparing to commence Initial Professional Development, with a relevant professional body such as the Institution of Civil Engineers. This role would suit a motivated and well-organised engineer who enjoys collaborative working, problem-solving and developing technical expertise within a supportive team environment. The organisation supports hybrid and flexible working arrangements, with the role based from a modern Warrington office offering strong transport connections and facilities that promote sustainable travel. In return, you will receive a competitive salary, flexible working options and access to a comprehensive professional development framework, including a generous training budget and support toward professional qualification.
