This role is essential to the success of the residential rehab. The counsellor supports residents to understand their addiction, develop healthier coping skills, and progress through their recovery programme. This leads to better engagement, improved outcomes, and fewer relapses.

The counsellor also strengthens the wider team by providing clinical insight, supporting consistent care planning, and helping maintain a safe and stable environment. Their work ensures the service meets professional and regulatory standards and delivers a high quality therapeutic programme.

• Delivering structured 1:1 and group therapy sessions, tailored to individual needs.
• Maintaining accurate, timely recordsand contributing effectively to multidisciplinary meetings.
• Responding appropriately to risk, safeguarding concerns, and changes in resident presentation.
• Working collaborativelywith colleagues and other professionals including social workers, probation and client care managers to maintain a safe, consistent therapeutic environment.
• Using supervision and reflective practiceto maintain high standards of care.
