Job Description

Workshop Fitter / Service Support
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Location: Castleford
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter / Service Support to join our operations team. In this role, you will dismantle, rebuild, and refurbish industrial pumps within the workshop, ensuring all inspections, assembly, and documentation are completed in line with procedures and company standards. You will also support on-site planned maintenance as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • De-contaminate pump units prior to inspection
  • Dismantle, inspect, and report on pump unit condition
  • Assemble pump sets
  • Identify spare parts from technical drawings
  • Compile detailed inspection reports
  • Measure mechanical components and critical dimensions
  • Conduct electrical inspections of pumps
  • Test pumps after assembly
  • Repair and maintain diesel pumpsets
  • Assist other departments as needed
  • Collect and deliver pumps/equipment as required
  • Support on-site maintenance jobs when required
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by the Service Delivery Manager


Qualifications / Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Confined Space training
  • Overhead Crane and Lifting & Slinging Operator Licence
  • Water Hygiene qualification
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Experience with electric motors and control equipment
  • Previous experience with pumps and rotating equipment
  • ATEX knowledge and experience
  • Strong fault-finding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Forklift licence desirable
