We are looking for an experienced and proactive Reactive & Planned Service Engineer to join our Fire, Security & TECS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out both emergency reactive call-outs and scheduled preventative maintenance across a range of life safety, security, and telecom systems.

This role requires strong fault-finding ability, excellent customer service skills, and the capability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high compliance and safety standards.

The Job you'll do

  • Respond to emergency call-outs within agreed SLAs.
  • Be part of an out of hours support team.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults across fire, security, and telecom systems.
  • Provide temporary and permanent solutions to system failures.
  • Complete detailed service reports and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding system status and required remedial works.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM):
  • Carry out routine servicing and inspections in line with industry standards and contracts.
  • Test and inspect fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable).
  • Service intruder alarms, CCTV (IP & analogue), and access control systems.
  • Maintain TECS including structured cabling, intercoms, and associated infrastructure.
  • Identify and report system deficiencies and recommend remedial actions.
  • Systems Experience
  • Fire Alarm Systems (BS5839 compliant)
  • Intruder Alarms
  • CCTV Systems (IP-based systems preferred)
  • Access Control Systems
  • Emergency Lighting (BS5266 compliant)
  • TECS / Structured Cabling / Door Entry Systems

About You

Essential:

  • Proven experience in servicing fire and security systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good IT skills for digital reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Desirable

  • FIA qualification or relevant fire & security certifications.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • IPAF/PASMA.
  • Experience with major manufacturers' systems.
  • Knowledge of SSAIB or NSI compliance requirements.
  • Personal Attributes.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated.
  • Professional and client-focused.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure during emergency call-outs.
  • Flexible with out-of-hours work and on-call rota.
