Role: Core Shop Assembler
Location: Dudley
Rate of Pay: £12.71ph to £13.50ph (Depending on Shift & experience)
Hours of Work: Day shift - working between 7am and 5pm (38hrs/week - flexibility required), Afternoon Shift- 1pm to 10.30pm (flexibility required)
Pertemps are recruiting for a Core shop Assembler to join a busy and quality-driven manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing sand cores used in the manufacture of high-integrity metal castings for a range of engineering applications, including automotive and industrial components. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that production meets both internal quality standards and customer specifications, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow production schedules and work flow plans to meet output targets.
- Set up and operate core-making equipment, including inputting settings and positioning tooling.
- Produce cores in line with specified quality standards and customer requirements.
- Carry out core finishing activities such as dressing, venting, and repairing minor defects.
- Identify and report non-conforming products or process issues.
- Inspect equipment and tooling prior to use and report any faults.
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures, standards, and quality requirements.
- Accurately complete production records and core processing documentation.
- Use measuring tools such as gauges and jigs where required.
- Work safely at all times, adhering to company policies and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Follow manual handling guidelines, including the safe lifting of items up to 25kg.
- Operate machinery and pneumatic equipment safely and responsibly.
- Carry out pre-use checks and shutdown procedures.
- Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Ensure machinery and work areas are kept in good condition.
- Handle waste materials and spillages safely and appropriately.
- Monitor and report on equipment condition and maintenance needs.
- Label, pack, and store cores correctly.
- Report any concerns regarding raw materials or supply issues.
Successful candidates will have:- Previous experience in foundry core-making or similar manufacturing processes is desirable
- Strong commitment to safe working practices and continuous improvement
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to identify issues and apply problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work instructions, and quality documentation
- Competent written skills for recording production and process
Desirable / Advantageous Skills- Experience with cold-box (PUCB) core-making systems
- Core assembly experience
- Forklift licence
- Overhead crane, lifting and slinging experience
- First Aid certification
