The Role

The role of a Credit Specialist is taking responsibility for making lending decisions on high value credit applications received through our partners in the Retail, Revolving, Personal Loans, Home Improvement, and Motor & Leisure sectors. You will contribute to the implementation of Credit Risk, Operational Risk policies, making sure that all conduct risk guidelines are followed. This means taking ownership of the customer or the partner query. Being courteous, professional, and diligent whilst adhering to Operational policies and the framework underpinned by the four Consumer Duty pillars, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Key Responsibilities:

• Play a major role in making 'best practice' underwriting decisions on high value credit for:
• Point of sale retail finance
• Personal Lending
• Motor Vehicle Finance
• Leisure
• Home Improvement
• Credit Cards
• Liaise with customers providing a dedicated point of contact for high value referral decisions and maximise accept rates.
• Assist with potential fraud investigations using CIFAS and Hunter
• Ensuring that all customer contact activities & underwriting decisions are compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Liaise with Account Managers and Clients providing a dedicated point of contact for allreferral decisions.
• Experts in underwriting Motor, Personal Loans, Home Improvements, and high value Retail.

Skills & Attributes:

• A good working knowledge of applicant Credit Bureau data and the ability to analyse this data to make a quality lending decision.
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to assess an applicant's affordability from various data sources including bank statements and pay slips.
• An understanding and knowledge of applicant credit scoring methodology
