Job Title: CAD Technician

Location: York

Salary: 29,000 - 35,000

My client is looking for someone to undertake and produce designs, layout drawings, and detailed engineering drawings for projects as requested, ensuring all work is completed in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.

Experience:

• Previous experience within the Sheet Metal Industry
• Experience of welding, fabrication, and manufactured assemblies
• Strong academic background in Mathematics, English and Science
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
• Experience producing general arrangement (GA) / layout drawings for manufacturing, installation and customer approval

Technical Requirements:

• City & Guilds or equivalent Certification in AutoCAD
• Layout and GA drawing production
• Competence in producing: 2D layout drawings
• Exploded views, BOMs, and part libraries
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook

Main Tasks:

• Produce layout drawings (GA drawings) to communicate design intent, spatial planning, installation requirements, and customer approval details
• Coordination between Designer, Production, and Suppliers to ensure timely issuing of all drawing types
• Visit customer sites as required to gather dimensional data and project requirements
• Implement new design concepts and ensure layout drawings accurately reflect feasibility and manufacturability
• Proactively chase drawing approvals and resolve queries from clients and production teams
• Produce all drawings in line with project expectations, technical standards, and deadlines
