We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Class Teacher to join one of our inspirational Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) settings in Newcastle on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build strong relationships with pupils and support their personal, social, and academic development in a highly rewarding environment.

About the RoleIn this role, you will plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and help them make meaningful progress.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering creative and engaging lessons that inspire and motivate learners
Teaching secondary-aged pupils within a PRU setting, many of whom have SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
Building positive, supportive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants
Managing behaviour using consistent, proactive, and positive strategies
Differentiating lessons to suit individual learning styles and abilities
Using a range of assessment methods to monitor pupil progress
Bringing enthusiasm, energy, and positivity into the classroom environment
Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to ensure pupils receive the best possible educational support
An inspirational PRU setting located in Newcastle
Supports secondary-aged pupils who have SEMH needs and behavioural challenges
Focused on providing a supportive, structured learning environment where pupils can rebuild confidence and succeed
Daily Rate: £130 - £200 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 08:30 - 16:00
Contract: Full-time, temporary until the end of the 2025/2026 academic year (July 2026)

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Teaching experience within SEND, Primary, or Secondary settings in the UK
Strong behaviour management skills
Experience using a variety of assessment methods to track pupil progress
Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
A positive, resilient attitude and strong classroom presence
A genuine passion for supporting pupils who face barriers to learning
An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service, though a new DBS can be processed if required)
