New Business Development Manager London Hybrid - 2 days a week in the London office Marketplace Seller Acquisition Commercial Growth Are you a Buyer, Category Manager, Commercial Manager or Marketplace professional who loves spotting opportunities, finding the right brands and turning them into commercial growth? Or perhaps you're already working in marketplace, eCommerce, supplier acquisition or new business and are ready to step into a role where you can shape category growth, lead a team and have a genuine impact on what customers can buy? We're looking for a New Business Development Manager to help grow an exciting Marketplace proposition across a portfolio of well-known retail brands including The Range, Homebase, Wilko and Bathstore. You'll also lead and develop a team of New Business Leads and Executives, setting targets, coaching the team and creating a high-performing new business function. Ultimately, your success will be measured not simply by the number of sellers you bring on board, but by whether you're bringing in the right sellers, the right products and profitable incremental GMV. What you'll be doing Own seller acquisition across your allocated categories, setting clear priorities around brands, sellers and range opportunities Identify category and range gaps using customer demand, search data, competitor insight and commercial performance Research the market and proactively identify exciting brands, suppliers and specialist sellers Build relationships with founders, brand owners and senior commercial contacts Pitch the Marketplace proposition and negotiate commission, fees and commercial terms Build and manage a targeted, well-qualified new business pipeline Own forecasting and provide clear visibility of pipeline, conversion, risks and opportunities Work closely with Digital Trading to identify new categories, brands and product opportunities Lead, coach and develop your New Business Leads and Executives Set clear individual and team targets and create a culture of accountability and high performance Work with Compliance and Seller Experience teams to ensure new partners meet Marketplace standards Support the transition from signed agreement through to successful launch and early trading Monitor new seller performance, including live SKUs, GMV and early trading Identify larger strategic opportunities including exclusive ranges, brand partnerships and joint growth plans Work with Retail Media to identify promotional and media opportunities for strategic sellers Bring market, competitor and seller insight into the wider Marketplace leadership team Represent the Marketplace externally at industry events, trade shows and with agencies, integrators and other partners Why this role? Our client is looking for a driven Senior Marketing Executive who wants to get hands-on and really get stuck into this brilliant company's digital revamp. Your Role as a Senior Marketing Executive: A hands-on role in a small marketing team, where most of the marketing output is produced in-house rather than via agency. Responsible for producing content and materials: web content, sales and customer collateral, case studies, web news stories, customer newsletters, factsheets and product release notes for direct and channel sales. Responsible for keeping product manuals, FAQs and other customer-facing technical content current and fit for purpose. Responsible for managing and extending integrated direct marketing campaigns: building contact lists, defining message sets, producing and automating campaign messages and workflows, and analysing performance. You will be accountable for the quantity and quality of leads generated. Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and development of the company's websites and microsites, including content publishing via WordPress and AI-supported HTML/CSS/JS, ongoing design improvement, SEO, PPC optimisation and LLM citation strategy. Web leads are the key route to the company's growth objectives. Responsible for building and maintaining a library of AI tools and workflows that multiply the team's output, such as writing and design engines, research tools, campaign generators and performance analysis. This is expected to be a significant differentiator in the role. Contributing to social media campaigns and to the overall direction of the web presence, with scope to take on more of this responsibility over time. Contributing to product strategy and product management, including analysis of market segments, geographies, pricing, channels and technologies, and developing tactical plans to position the products. On a more occasional basis: major content projects for new products and market initiatives, advanced animated sales presentations and webinar material, and material supporting partner marketing, PR, lobbying, advocacy and events. Working as part of the company's senior team. In the short term, you are likely to become either the strong number two to the marketing lead or the lead yourself. Ideal Background for the Senior Marketing Executive: 3 years+ B2B marketing experience with technical products and or services. Ideally in the IT / Technology market. Demonstrable hands-on use of AI in marketing; not occasional drafting, but specific examples of tools or workflows you have built and what they changed. A fluent copywriter with a solid portfolio, able to quickly absorb a technical proposition and turn it into clear, impactful messaging. Real expertise in one or more of copywriting, graphic design and digital marketing, with solid skills across the wider marketing mix. A proven ability to contribute to marketing strategy, with a track record of measurable campaign success. A rigorous, structured and data-driven approach to complex problems, including drawing well-judged conclusions from market assessments. This is likely, but not necessarily, backed by a strong degree. Highly organised and self-sufficient, bringing your own process and discipline, with a track record of delivering on commitments. A direct, confident communicator, written and verbal, who says what they think, backs it up and can deliver uncomfortable information clearly.
