Building Physics Engineer

Manchester 35,000- 45,000 per annum Flexible working arrangements



Overview

Are you motivated by sustainability and committed to improving building performance? Do you bring hands-on experience in thermal modelling and energy analysis? Our client is seeking an experienced IES Modeller / Building Performance Engineer to join their Manchester team. This opportunity sits within a Planet Mark Certified organisation, this role would suit someone purpose-led who wants their technical expertise to directly contribute to measurable environmental progress.

Day-to-Day

  • Delivering building performance simulations using IES software

  • Producing clear, detailed technical reports for internal teams and clients

  • Attending client meetings to present findings and advise on sustainable design strategies

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure high-quality project delivery

  • Supporting ongoing sustainability initiatives and carbon reduction commitments



Responsibilities

  • Undertake detailed thermal and energy modelling assessments using IES

  • Prepare comprehensive reports and present outcomes professionally to clients

  • Interpret modelling results and recommend practical, low-carbon solutions

  • Contribute to achieving company carbon reduction targets

  • Remain up to date with current regulations, standards, and industry best practice in building physics and energy efficiency



Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in thermal modelling and building performance analysis

  • Strong proficiency in IES software and sound knowledge of building physics principles

  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders

  • Proactive mindset with a genuine passion for sustainability

  • Degree in engineering, architecture, or a related discipline (preferred)
