We are seeking an inspiring and hands on Farm to Table Coordinator to lead the heart of our vegetable garden. This pivotal role is about more than just growing crops; it is about managing the journey of our produce from the first seed sown to the final harvest. You will be the visionary behind our edible landscape, ensuring our garden is productive, sustainable, and a welcoming space for our community of volunteers.
As our Farm to Table Coordinator, you will transform our garden into a "Living Classroom" and a source of organic nourishment. By overseeing the growth of fresh produce, you are not just growing vegetables; you are cultivating a space where Jewish identity and environmental stewardship meet.
Your leadership will ensure the garden remains a vibrant, accessible green space where people of all ages can connect with the land, their heritage, and each other, ensuring that Jewish life in Brighton & Hove is both visible and flourishing.
What additional skills or experience you should haveWe are looking for a knowledgeable grower with a passion for organic horticulture and the ability to lead a diverse team of volunteers with patience and warmth. You should have a practical understanding of the UK growing season, from soil preparation to harvest, alongside the organisational skills to manage a productive planting calendar. As our hub is a community space, an Enhanced DBS check is required (which we will arrange), and an appreciation for Jewish cultural traditions and seasonal festivals is highly desirable. Above all, you should be a clear communicator who enjoys sharing the "seed to table" journey with others, ensuring our garden remains a safe, inclusive, and flourishing resource for all of Brighton & Hove.
What training we will provide for youWe will provide a comprehensive induction to our dynamic Brighton & Hove hub, ensuring you feel confident and supported from day one. This includes tailored guidance on integrating Jewish cultural traditions and seasonal festivals into the garden's cycle, alongside essential training in safeguarding, health and safety, and risk assessment.
