SEN Teaching Assistant Leatherhead, Surrey

We re looking for an enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join our exceptional special school near Redhill, Surrey. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of amazing young people in a supportive and inspiring environment.

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Contract Type: Temporary, with potential to go permanent
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Hours: 8:45 am 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
  • Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
  • Salary: £85.00 £95.00 per day (PAYE)
  • School Type: Special School supporting primary, secondary, and post-16 pupils with autism and complex needs

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you ll play a vital role in supporting students with autism and complex needs to reach their full potential academically, socially, and personally. You ll work closely with teachers and the wider team to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with autism and complex needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and promoting a positive learning experience.
  • Encourage students independence, confidence, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-organised classroom environment.

What We re Looking For

  • SEN school-based experience, including experience supporting pupils with Autism and complex social communication needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to support students effectively.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet students changing needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or related areas are desirable (or willingness to work towards them).
  • Must be able to commute to location
