Mechanical Fitter - Water Treatment Plant
Location: Bristol, South West (commutable from Bath, Filton, Avonmouth, Portishead, Gloucester, Swindon, Newport)
Rate: 28.00 - 30.00 per hour (DOE)
Hours: Up to 50 hours per week + overtime
Job Type: Contract (Long-Term - Up to 5 Years)


Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for long-term contract work in Bristol within the water or utilities sector?

We are recruiting skilled Mechanical Fitters to work on a major water treatment plant in Bristol. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering up to 50 hours per week, overtime potential and secure work for up to 5 years.

This role is suited to Mechanical Fitters with strong industrial experience in process, utilities or heavy engineering environments.



The Role - Mechanical Fitter (Contract)

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will carry out installation, maintenance and refurbishment work on mechanical plant equipment within a live water treatment environment.

Key duties include:

  • Installation and alignment of pumps, motors and gearboxes

  • Mechanical fitting of pipework, valves and flanged systems

  • Maintenance and overhaul of rotating equipment

  • Working on conveyors, screens and treatment plant machinery

  • Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings

  • Fault finding and breakdown repairs

  • Assisting with commissioning activities

This is hands-on industrial mechanical work - not automotive or workshop-based fitting.



Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Fitting (or equivalent)

  • CSCS Card (or relevant site card)

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial environment

  • Experience working on pumps, motors and rotating equipment

  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings

  • Full UK driving licence preferred

Desirable:

  • Experience within water treatment, wastewater or utilities

  • Confined space training

  • IPAF or PASMA certification

Applicants must have demonstrable industrial mechanical experience.
