Epitaxy Equipment Engineer

Location: Caswell, Northampton

Day Shift: 08:00 - 16:00

Eligibility to work in the UK

You will provide Equipment Engineering support to the Epitaxy Shift Equipment Engineers and Technicians. This will include continuous improvement projects, day-to-day production support, fault finding and repair of production equipment and associated systems, and working with process gas systems including the use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

Duties:
  • Lead equipment improvements, upgrades, and assist with installations.
  • Work on MOVPE and associated equipment to minimise production downtime, including phosphorous-trap and gas cylinder changes using SCBA.
  • Operate forklift trucks (training provided).
  • Oversee chemicals, gases, and spare parts control, including chemical fills and waste management.
  • Provide technical direction and instruction to Shift Technicians on procedures, safety, and best practice.
  • Support logistics projects (equipment relocation, cleanroom reorganisation, shipping).
  • Assist with shutdown activities (some weekend overtime may be required).
  • Liaise with equipment and spares suppliers, specialist service providers, and supervise external contractors and field service engineers.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to maximise equipment utilisation and uptime.
  • Adhere to all site safety and environmental procedures.
  • Support the site emergency response function.
To be considered you will have the following experience:
  • Electrical engineering experience including low and high voltage work.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a Wafer Fab or Epitaxy Engineering environment.
  • HNC or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent time-served apprenticeship).
  • Strong understanding of pneumatic systems and PLC operation.
  • Working knowledge of vacuum systems including high-vac principles, pumps, and leak-checking.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring and mechanical schematics.
  • Comfortable working with hazardous chemicals and gases.
  • Experience with Aixtron MOVPE reactors or other CVD equipment.
  • Semiconductor process gas experience including Mass Flow Controllers.
  • Experience with dry abatement systems.
