Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and help steer the charity's financial future at this pivotal moment.

Your expertise will ensure our finances remain strong and sustainable, enabling us to continue delivering our activities and advocacy for older people as we move into a new phase in a specially designed building.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee financial governance and compliance
  • Support SPC staff with budgets, annual accounts, and financial reporting to the Board
  • Advise of financial strategy and sustainability
  • Support fundraising and investment decisions
  • Attend monthly board meetings in person at our Centre in Camberwell or online. It is likely the Board will introduce a finance and business support committee and the frequency of both meetings will be reviewed.
  • Review monthly management accounts, preparation for and actions arising from board meetings plus adhoc support when required by the Director.
Qualifications
  • Strong financial background (accountancy or financial management)
  • A recognised accountancy qualification is not essential but desirable
  • Understanding of charity finance and governance
  • Ability to explain financial matters to non-financial trustees
  • Ability to think strategically and offer sound advice and judgement
