Assistant Estimator Central London
Up to £45,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

The Company

A well-established and highly respected main contractor with a strong presence across London, the South East, and East Anglia is looking to appoint an Assistant Estimator to join their growing commercial team in Central London.

With over two decades of industry experience, the business has built a reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across the commercial, residential, healthcare, and education sectors. Known for their collaborative approach and commitment to excellence, they pride themselves on developing long-term relationships with clients and delivering projects to the highest standards.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an ambitious Assistant Estimator to support the pre-construction team on a range of exciting new build schemes.

The Role

As an Assistant Estimator, you will work closely with senior estimators and the wider commercial team, supporting the preparation of competitive and accurate tenders for new build commercial and residential projects valued up to £20m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions

  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation

  • Take-offs and measurement of quantities

  • Assist in obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations

  • Support in preparing bills of quantities and cost plans

  • Help identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options

  • Maintain and update cost databases and records

  • Liaise with internal teams including commercial, design, and operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Estimator, Trainee Estimator, or Quantity Surveying role within construction

  • Experience working on new build commercial and/or residential projects

  • Understanding of construction methods and estimating processes

  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) preferred but not essential
