The Opportunity
LEAD PROCESS ENGINEER DEVELOPMENT (BATTERY / ELECTRODE)

Our Client is one of the UK s leading pioneers in the race to develop and manufacture the latest Battery technology for industry, with an initial primary focus on supporting our ever-growing Automotive manufacturing sector (but not exclusively!), ensuring that there will be a brighter and greener future for us all.

As part of this growth, we are now actively seeking an experienced Lead Process Engineer Development (Battery/Electrode) on a permanent basis. In this role, you will you will lead a team of engineers responsible for process development, technology trials, and scale-up activities across the full battery manufacturing workflow. You will work closely with product, electrochemistry, and operations teams to introduce new materials, methods, and chemistries into the company s manufacturing environment.

This role provides leadership across mixing, coating, calendering, slitting, Cell Assembly, Formation & Ageing (FA&T), and Module & Pack process streams. You will be responsible for validating new technologies, supporting customer projects, and delivering industrialisation solutions that enable next-generation lithium-ion Battery products.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Process Development & Industrialisation
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Technology & Leading CAPEX Project Delivery

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • You should ideally be educated to Degree level (Bachelor s or Master s) in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical, Material or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent, although plenty of relevant Process Engineering experience will be considered.
  • You should be an experienced Lead Process Engineer with proven experience leading engineering teams in process development or industrialisation.
  • You will have significant experience in Process Engineering within high-speed or advanced manufacturing (Automotive, Battery, or related industries).
  • A strong knowledge of automation, mechanical, and control systems is required.
  • You will have good problem-solving skills and ability to interpret complex process and machine data.
  • Should have an excellent appreciation for HSE and quality systems.

It s great if you also have the following:

  • Experience across multiple Battery manufacturing processes (Electrode, Cell Assembly, FA&T, Module & Pack).
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Creo, or other design tools.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, data acquisition systems, or advanced automation.
  • Experience delivering CAPEX projects in manufacturing environments.
