Senior Buyer Technical / Engineering

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Buyer to join a rapidly growing engineering business that has tripled in size over the last three years and they re not slowing down.

This is a pivotal role within the organisation, acting as the key link between the Engineering Design team and an expanding global supplier network. You will take full ownership of the end-to-end procurement and supply chain cycle, ensuring the on-time delivery of high-quality, bespoke engineered components at the most competitive cost.

The Role

As Senior Buyer, you will:

  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle from RFQ through to delivery and supplier performance management

  • Work closely with Engineering teams to source bespoke components, modules and assemblies

  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and structured Bills of Materials (BoMs)

  • Lead formal RFQ processes, analyse quotations and conduct cost comparisons

  • Support estimation and costing activities, including maintaining product cost matrices

  • Conduct risk analysis across the supply chain and proactively mitigate potential disruption

  • Negotiate commercial terms and place purchase orders

  • Develop, expand and manage a global supplier base

  • Drive supplier performance, KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Utilise and enhance ERP/MRP systems to improve supply chain visibility and reporting

About You

We re looking for a commercially astute and technically confident procurement professional who can operate at a senior level in a fast-paced engineering environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing the end-to-end procurement/supply chain process

  • Strong background in technical or engineering buying

  • Experience working with bespoke or engineered-to-order products

  • The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

  • Experience managing RFQs, cost analysis, estimation support and supplier negotiations

  • Strong ERP/MRP system knowledge

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams
