Principal Lawyer - Property & Planning

Location: London

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: £65,181 - £68,784 per annum plus £5,000 welcome bonus

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for a highly experienced Principal Lawyer Property & Planning to join the Council to provide a comprehensive and professional legal service.

You will report to the Chief Legal Officer within the Legal Department and work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the Property & Planning Legal Team
  • Provide expertise, knowledge and advice on property and planning matters, including landlord and tenant act matters, deeds of easement/wayleaves, collective enfranchisement and leasehold extensions, right to buy transactions, planning and other such agreements.
  • Conduct the Council's legal caseload in respect of the area of specialism and related project matters.
  • Handle the Council's most complex legal matters.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold a Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar legal qualification and be authorised to conduct legal work.
  • Have experience of conducting legal matters in the relevant area of law.
  • Advocacy experience in relevant areas of law.
  • Experience of advising in local government or a similar environment.
  • Ability to manage a team of lawyers.
