The role requires creativity, patience, and a strong understanding of differentiated teaching approaches suited to pupils with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver personalised, sensory-based and engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SLD
  • Develop IEPs and contribute to EHCPs

  • Support communication development using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC where appropriate
  • Create a structured, safe, and nurturing classroom environment that supports emotional regulation

Requirements:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working within a SLD setting
  • Understanding of complex learning needs and differentiated teaching strategies
  • Knowledge of communication approaches such as Makaton, PECS, or visual communication systems
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills

What the School offers:

  • Supportive leadership team
  • Well-resourced classrooms and therapeutic support services
  • Opportunity to make a genuine impact on pupils' lives
  • Positive and inclusive working environment

How to Apply:

If you are ready to take the next step in your SEN teaching career and want to work in a specialist SLD setting where your work truly makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.
