Mechanical Estimator

Location: Central London / Hybrid Working
Salary: 65,000 - 75,000 (DOE) + Benefits
Contract: Permanent



Overview

We are working with a leading London-based engineering contractor who specialise in delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical building services across a wide range of sectors, including commercial fit-outs, residential, healthcare, life sciences and data centres.

Due to continued growth and a strong secured pipeline, they are now looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to join their commercial team. This is a key role within the business, where your commercial insight and technical knowledge will directly influence project success and future workload.



Role Responsibilities

  • Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical building services packages from tender through to submission

  • Analysing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to identify scope, risk and resource requirements

  • Producing detailed take-offs for mechanical installations, plant, pipework and associated systems

  • Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate quotations

  • Supporting value engineering initiatives to improve competitiveness and margin

  • Identifying commercial risks and pricing accordingly

  • Working closely with project managers and pre-construction teams

  • Contributing to bid strategy and tender reviews



Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within an M&E or building services contractor

  • Strong understanding of HVAC, pipework and mechanical plant

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Commercially aware with strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Confident communicator with the ability to liaise with supply chain and internal teams

  • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office
