We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, family-run care home for a 2nd / Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chef to join a supportive team, working Monday to Friday and weekends, with shifts and hours flexible to suit your availability.
Shifts & HoursWeekdays: 8am 3pm or 3pm 8pm
Weekends: 8am 2pm or 3pm 8pm
From 30 hours per week, with shift patterns discussed at interview
Role OverviewReporting to the Head Chef, you will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents. You will deputise for the Head Chef in their absence and ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in menu planning and meal preparation
Ordering and stock management
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety
Support the team in delivering freshly prepared, nutritious meals
Deputise for the Head Chef when required
Assist in training or supervising kitchen staff as needed
Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience in a similar role (care home or hospitality preferred)
Good knowledge of menu planning, ordering, and stock control
Understanding of health & hygiene standards and health & safety regulations
Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Passionate about providing high-quality meals for residents
