The National Education Union is a powerful force for change in education, representing 500,000 teachers and other education staff.
We're looking for an experienced individual to support the Recruitment and Retention Manager with the development, monitoring, oversight and evaluation of the Union's recruitment and retention strategy, and to provide advice on the Union's strategy to ensure it is clearly understood across the Union at all levels.
Reporting to the Recruitment & Retention Manager, you will also provide advice and information on matters relating to recruiting and retaining members to activists and staff across function/region/Wales; maintain oversight of the Union's recruitment and retention programmes and related activity to assess their impact and effectiveness; participate in and support the coordination of recruitment and retention project work; and prepare progress reports, plans and other documentation as required.
We are looking for applicants with good project management skills; experience of establishing and managing effective relationships with key stakeholders; knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to the recruitment and retention of members, particularly within a membership organisation or trade union; and an understanding of the principles of trade union organising.In addition, you should have a good general knowledge of the trade union movement and an understanding of the issues relating to membership recruitment and retention. You must also have good IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, together with any other IT applications necessary for the performance of the role, for example membership databases and survey software.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including 33 days' annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme.
