We are recruiting on behalf of a well?established, IQM?awarded specialist day school supporting students aged 619 with a wide range of complex needs, including PMLD, MLD, SLD, autism, ADHD and associated medical, sensory or physical needs.
The school offers a highly personalised, therapeutic learning environment with exceptional facilities such as a Hydrotherapy pool, extensive outdoor learning spaces and an on?site multidisciplinary therapy team.
They are now seeking an experienced and passionate SENCo to join their leadership team from April 2026.
The Role
The SENCo will work closely with the Head of School to lead and develop inclusive teaching, curriculum, assessment, careers and preparation for adulthood across designated phases.
This role is central to shaping SEND provision, ensuring high?quality practice, robust systems and outstanding outcomes for pupils with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day?to?day management of the school, including recruitment, training, staff line?management and arranging cover
- Lead CPD for classroom?based staff, ensuring training needs are identified and met
- Support the management of budgets and resources, ensuring effective use of delegated funds
- Promote a safe, secure and positive learning environment in line with Health & Safety requirements
- Contribute to school self?evaluation and governance reporting
- Lead assessment processes, target?setting and achievement reviews
- Ensure effective systems for collecting and analysing assessment data
- Monitor teaching and learning through planning reviews, work scrutiny and lesson observations
- Lead the development and implementation of an inclusive curriculum and assessment framework
About You
Essential
- QTS or QTLS
- Strong track record of high?quality teaching within relevant key stages and/or SEND settings
- Experience translating policy into effective practice
- Leadership experience within a significant area, phase or inclusion role
- Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills across a range of audiences
Desirable
- Accredited SEND?related training (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia)
- Leadership/management qualification
- NPQSL/NPQH/SENDCo qualification (or willingness to complete within 2 years)
- Experience delivering impactful CPD, mentoring or coaching
- Experience contributing to senior leadership
- Knowledge of ASD interventions (e.g., TEACCH)
- Experience in curriculum leadership and resource planning
