Job Role: Moulding Machine Setter Location: Leicestershire Shift: 3pm to 11pm Monday to Thursday / 1:30pm to 08:00pm on Friday Pay: Negotiable Benefits: Permanent position, company pension, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, free parking, company events, company performance based bonus. About the Company: An established plastic injection moulder who designs and manufacture a range of products for Automotive, Medical, Electrical and Audio. About the Role: You will be responsible for setting and operating injection mould machines and ensuring production targets are met. Responsibilities: Fit and set both insert and full tools to our range of moulding machines Ensure zero moulding defects or rework Ensure cycle rates are achieved or exceeded Carry out cleaning of the machines to ensure 100% uptime Complete first off inspection of parts Basic maintenance and cleaning of tools before, after or during production runs Keep a tidy and safe working environment Operate up to 5 machines when required when machine setting is not required About You: Must have experience of setting mould machines between 35 to 200 tons (ideally Arburg) Experience in multi cavity, hot runner and hot tip systems Knowledge of engineering polymers and the optimisation and processing of these materials A constant focus on quality and speed Experience of Lean and/ or 5S is an advantage Must be self-motivated, adaptable and organised and be able to use your own initiative. Company Our client is a market leading manufacturing company. Due to sustained growth, they are now looking to recruit a Lead Injection Moulding Setter. Role You will ensure that tool and machine setting, production efficiencies and quality are carried out to a high standard in line with the production plan, health and safety obligations and all manufacturing objectives. Completing mould tool changes in a safe and efficient manner. Interpret and work on daily schedules in line with production plans. Set, adjust and optimise injection moulding machines and all associated equipment including mould heaters, material dryers, hot runner controllers and 3 axis robots. Manage a small team of 3 to meet production demand requirements. Complete all required documentation accurately: start-up checklists, tooling setting sheets, shift hand-over log and production logs using the company's software system. Complete equipment pre-use check, ensure that the correct PPE is worn by all members of the team adhere to all health and safety system and risk assessment documentation. Support new tool trials and processes, process improvements which are no-mould related to enhance the safety and the overall Mould Shop environment. Assist with basic preventative maintenance of both tools and equipment. Train and mentor a small team of 3-4. Will be working Monday to Friday only not weekends. 12 hour shifts. Week one Monday, Tuesday on days and Thursday and Fridays nights. Week two Wednesday, Thursday and Friday days and week three, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Person Must have previous experience as an injection mould setter. Lead/supervisory experience preferred. You will be happy to work shifts. The person will have experience in the processing of thermoplastic materials such as PVC, nylon and TPE and has a strong understanding of process parameters that affect product quality and production output. You will have good communication and numeracy skills, organisational skills, will be self-motivated and have a hands-on approach to problem solving with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. Strong knowledge of injection moulding processes, mould setup, and troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret work instructions, and technical documents. Understanding of plastics materials, drying requirements, and process parameters. Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
