Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant - Hexham
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and professional Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in Hexham.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of special educational needs who are looking to make a meaningful impact within a structured, supportive educational setting.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to deliver high-quality support to pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in their learning and personal development.
ResponsibilitiesDeliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies
Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Apply behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Provide personal care where required, ensuring dignity and professionalism at all times
Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
Monitor and record pupil progress, raising any concerns appropriately
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
Previous experience within a SEND setting (highly advantageous)
Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties
A calm, patient, and professional approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Monday to Friday
Term-time only
No weekend working
