Demonstrable technical experience working in a Mechanical / Building Services environment and working on systems including Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building / Energy Management Systems (BMS, EMS), controls, cooling (e.g., ADCs), etc. Knowledge of Data Centre cooling, specifically including closed and open water-cooling systems, cooling towers, refrigeration systems, etc. Previous experience working operationally as a primary supplier. As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you'll lead control system design and integration, mentor a growing team, and shape technical direction on high-impact projects. As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will: Design, development, programming and testing of mission critical innovative solutions under the guidance of more experienced Engineers. Work as a key team member resolving hardware and software challenges for assigned solution areas. Design and configuration of cyber-secure infrastructure and communications between solution components using industry standard protocols. Develop a thorough understanding of ITI's operational procedures and ensure compliance with both internal and external standards. Assembly supervision and electrical testing of solution hardware (including functional safety systems) under the guidance of experienced Engineers. Installation and commissioning of solutions on customer sites. Provide support and mentoring for more junior engineers. Experience & Knowledge Experience of control system project delivery, demonstrable experience of design, implementation, test and commissioning roles within a project team Basic understanding of electrical system drawings, including GA's, Wiring Schematics and Termination Diagrams. Good fundamental electrical knowledge and ability to understand/interpret system drawings Sound grasp of general IT/OT Technologies and development methodologies Awareness/understanding of Quality Management System procedures Knowledge of Windows Operating System configuration and lockdown. Knowledge of network switch and firewall configuration and network management packages Electrical & Electronic or Electrical or Software Engineering degree (min 2:1) or similar qualification Undertaken a structured project delivery lifecycle Experience with software development and configuration tools, methods and processes Experience with Siemens range of PLCs/HMIs / DCS / Drives Skills & Abilities Proficient in generation of formal technical documentation for the full life cycle of projects Proficient in Microsoft Office products Ability to estimating time and costs for common tasks Eligible for security clearance checks for access to client sites. Excellent ability to capture information, analyse it, and articulate an appropriate solution. The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Controls Engineer to work as part of the Controls Department in Product Development reporting to the Senior Lead Controls Engineer. The Role As part of a Controls engineering team, develop and test software solutions which automate the mechanical components of Airedale products, and assist with the specification and validation of controls hardware and electronics. Work within defined processes and procedures to ensure quality, consistency and safety of Airedale products in line with appropriate standards and regulations. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design, develop and qualify both platform product development projects (in support of the R&D roadmap) and proprietary key customer projects within agreed deadlines. Pursue market leading technical advances to deliver innovation focusing especially on efficiency, reliability and precision. Use development tools to manage software improvements and bug fixes on existing products, and maintain traceability of software releases and versioning. Support manufacturing to ensure the quality of products leaving the factory. Assist the R&D test laboratory with validation testing of engineering prototypes, proof of concept research projects and bespoke products for key customers. Attend internal/external supplier meetings to identify opportunities for innovation. Create technical literature and processes to ensure unit configuration is performed correctly both on site and in the factory. Skills/Experience Minimum Degree level in an Engineering discipline. Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or Computer Science are preferred. Experience with PLC or microcontroller technology and IEC61131 programming languages. Computer literate with understanding of structured software design and text based programming (e.g., C based languages, JavaScript, HTML5 etc.). Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Appreciation of the requirements for developing ergonomic display and web based user interfaces (e,g., HMI, SCADA, touch screen etc.). Good knowledge of the fundamental principles of electronics and experience working with electrical systems. A basic understanding of mechanical systems and the fundamentals of thermodynamics. Appreciation of datacentre HVAC applications and products, especially Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, CDU and FWU. A basic understanding of serial communication protocols including Modbus, BACnet and Ethernet TCP/IP. A desire to pioneer new and innovative solutions with outside the box thinking. Must be able to work on projects autonomously, be self-motivated and able to take initiative. Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards problem solving.
